ABOUT THE CAUSE
A Fun Walk for Colon Cancer Awareness
Colon Cancer Awareness
Colon cancer is one of the most preventable forms of cancer — when detected early. The Blue Dress Walk exists to raise awareness, encourage screening, and start conversations that save lives.
Why Awareness Matters
Colon cancer often develops with no early symptoms. When caught early, treatment is highly effective. Awareness encourages people to talk to their doctors and schedule routine screenings.
- Colon cancer is highly treatable when detected early
- Screening can prevent cancer before it starts
- Education removes fear and stigma
Who Should Be Screened?
Medical guidelines recommend routine colon cancer screening beginning at age 45. Those with family history or risk factors may need earlier testing.
- Adults age 45 and older
- Anyone with family history of colon cancer
- Individuals with digestive health concerns
The Blue Dress Walk Mission
The Blue Dress Walk brings the community together to normalize conversations about colon health, promote early detection, and support health education through the Memorial Hospital Foundation.
